30-Day Window for Employee Award Transfer
Question
I have an employee transferring to my dealership from a different dealership. This employee is currently participating in Service STAR and STAR Power. What steps do I need to take to ensure this employee doesn’t lose the points for STAR Power or the cash for Service STAR? — General Question
Answer
All steps need to be completed within 30 days of the transfer, or the employee’s Hyundai star awards account will become inactive, and all points will be lost!
Steps
- Activate the employee in the new dealership in the AS400/DCS Personnel Enrollment/W9.
- De-activate the employee from the old dealership in the AS400/DCS Personnel Enrollment/W9.
- If an employee will be participating in STAR Power or Service STAR, the Service Manager at the new dealer will need to mark the employee as participating in one or both programs in the Verification Tool and allocate a percentage to this employee for Service STAR.

Hyundai vs. BMW in Autos.AOL.com
The third-party recognition of the Hyundai brand’s emergence as an industry leader continues. In recent weeks, our Tucson and Sonata have become the most searched products on consumer Websites, including Edmunds.com and KellyBlueBook.com. The awards and accolades continue to come in with each new product we launch.
Since the launch of the 2009 Genesis, the North American Car of the Year, we’ve been building brand momentum and now regularly see our products compared to and cross-shopped with some of the most prestigious nameplates in the business. In the past few weeks, we’ve seen Genesis Coupe beat the Mustang in a Motor Trend comparison test. We’ve seen Sonata beat the competition in Car and Driver testing and appear on the covers of AutoWeek and Motor Trend and the front page of The USA Today.
The most recent example of how far our brand has come in a very short time is a thought-provoking article that ran on AOL Autos today titled “Hyundai vs. BMW: Not as Crazy as You Might Think.”
Writer David Kiley compares our lineup of high quality, high-tech products, head-to-head, with those of BMW. Read and enjoy. This is a “big picture” story for our brand. It’s remarkable that we tie BMW, overall. But the real significance is that this story is indicative of a trend among well-respected automotive industry observers who now are counting Hyundai as a legitimate challenger to the most well-regarded and carefully cultivated automotive brands in the world.
We are doing quite well in the story’s reader poll with more than 30 percent of respondents saying they would prefer a Hyundai over a BMW. We’d encourage you to go in and vote for your favorite as well.
Genesis Navi Map Software Update
Attention Parts and Service Managers
The "Genesis Map" software that you currently have is part of a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB #10-BE-004) and includes a DIS operating system update combined with 4th quarter 2008 map data. This update does not apply to all vehicles. Attempting to load this software to other vehicles may result in the loss of DIS system operation. Hyundai Motor America does not recommend trying it.
The 2010 map update shown on the M&Soft website is also 2008 4th quarter map data. It is not available for customer purchase from M&Soft . HMA has asked that sales of this software be stopped since it is also "old" map data and it has proven to be difficult for customers to install themselves, in some cases, leading to the loss of DIS system operation. Your customers would not be happy with this software.
New map update software is currently being validated and will be released to dealers in August of this year (2010). As this date approaches, HMA will announce full program details. HMA has started a process to offer updated map data each year for all of our navigation systems. All future map updates are targeted for release in the 3rd quarter of each calendar year.
We recognize the importance of this issue and we are working to provide a robust solution.
