New Equus Valet Course and Podcast Posted in TACS
Attention Service Managers and Service Consultants. We’ve just posted two new training-related programs on TACS.
First is an 8-minute web-based training program for Equus Service Valets. The valet is the person who picks up and drops off your Equus customers’ cars for maintenance or service. We strongly encourage all valets to take the course.
Second, we have a podcast on Xtime. Some dealers were already Xtime users when Hyundai launched our program. In this podcast, Mike Lange from Cerritos Hyundai in California talks about his experiences with Xtime and how it has benefited his dealership. The podcast is also just 8 minutes long; check it out.
2011 Elantra Transit Smart Junction Box (SJB) On/Off Switch
The 2011 Elantra is the first Hyundai model to use the new SJB ON/OFF switch . Previous models had an Ignition Off Draw (IOD) fuse. When a vehicle is in transit to your dealership, the SJB switch is in the “OFF” position, and should remain in the “OFF” position to reduce current draw. When the switch is “OFF”, all electronic modules will be automatically turned “on” when the ignition switch is cycled. This allows for full testing of all electrical devices, as well as operation of all accessories including the clock, radio pre-sets, remote keyless entry, dome lamps, etc. All of these accessories, however, will automatically shut down on a predetermined schedule if the car is stored and not used with the SJB fuse still in the “OFF” position. This is actually much easier for dealers to manage and minimizes the risk of premature battery drainage. The only thing the dealer has to do is remember to turn the SJB switch “ON” immediately prior to delivery.
Bluetooth Phonebook Download
Depending on the brand of CELLULAR PHONE or SERVICE PROVIDER, vehicle Bluetooth system may interchange the LAST NAME and FIRST NAME fields when the phone’s phonebook is downloaded. This condition can cause Voice Command complaints. If the phonebook names are interchanged, say LAST NAME first and follow by FIRST NAME when making phone calls via the Voice Command system. The described condition is a normal characteristic of the Bluetooth system and NOT a vehicle Bluetooth system performance issue. Please remind customers of this system characteristic during the sales delivery process, or if customer comes in for service describing the condition above.
To help our customers and service personnel determine the level of compatibility for a specific phone and vehicle system, there is now an updated listing of mobile phones tested in 2011 Hyundai vehicles available on http://www.hyundaiusa.com/BlueTooth. More than 100 phones have been added to this update.
Note that since new mobile phones are introduced frequently, all phones may not be listed here, even though they may work with the Hyundai Bluetooth® system.
ServiceSmarts® Tip of the Month
Use the Distance Analysis Metric to Find Opportunity
This metric in ServiceSmarts® demonstrates your dealership’s ability to draw customer pay service customers, regardless of distance. The top chart shows your dealership’s volume of customer pay service business for the targeted customers in two mile increments from the dealership. The bottom chart shows your dealership’s customer pay service penetration of the targeted customers (UIO) that exist in two mile increments from your dealership.
